Quick fix chicken curry


I tried making a chicken curry with an Indian chicken curry mix which a friend had sent. This is not available in the market yet.

I normally don’t use ready mixes unless it is for something like Thai curry which I can’t make.

However, this was on a lazy Sunday when I didn’t feel like cooking. I just had to marinate the chicken in the curry powder and water. The instructions said to heat a table spoon of oil in a pan and then add the chicken mix and cook it till it is ready. I didn’t add the oil though. It turned out quite good. It needed a bit of salt and was a bit too spicy (hot) but that can be adjusted by putting a bit less of the mix.

As you can see from the picture (I garnished it with coriander and chilly) it looked (and tasted and smelt) like a good Indian chicken curry. It’s good to use if you don’t feel like cooking or can’t cook.

I have used curry mixes from local companies such as the Poonjiaji and Paramapara when I was new to the kitchen. Where this mix scores is that it doesn’t have the oil OD which those had. In fact I made it with no oil at all.

I will definitely look forward to its being launched in the market
