It was 2 days back I chanced upon HOMP episode on Kolkata and I had decided that Kasturi is a must visit place next time I am in Kolkata ... and Kachu Pata diye ilish had caught my fancy ... and lo you have a post on that ... I am so missing Kolkata and that too during the winters!!
BTW, in the vicinity of Kasturi, towards the other end of Mirza Ghalib street, you can find quite a few bangladeshi restaurants .. in fact the "Dhaka style Biryani" ... happy eating :)

ee baba you went to Kalman and you should have totally bought the pork collar as well as the ham. Not the lean one, but the fatty "real" thing which still has the leg sticking out from it. Also, in Kasturi do try the morog polao. Though this is not the Ilish season they do make a decent Ilish, however, it is the season for good Bhetki and you should also try their Pabda, which is amazing.
